Default 'House' (1977) - High-Def Digest Review

Our review of 'House' has been posted. Drew loves this film! Hey says the Blu-ray has great video and audio, but this is the first time in a while he's felt Criterion could have dug just a bit deeper for extras. This is still a must own.

I'm foaming at the mouth for this title! I keep meaning to get the poster of the film as well.

Great review! I was on the fence about purchasing this title (The same weirdness that is prised in the review is what held me from looking at this as a must buy as I wasn't sure about how that weirdness was handled in the film) but this is a must-buy for me now. It sure looks overly wacky and brave in concept but that is what makes cinema so damn enjoyable after all. Criterion never seems to let us down seeing the good PQ and AQ ratings. The Thin Red Line, Heaven Days, Seven Samurai, Cronos and now House, it's overwhelming the amount of titles I need to purchase .

I accidently came across this movie late one Friday night on either IFC or Sundance (cant remember which) and loved it- couldn't believe I had never heard of it before or that it never had an R1 release and here we stand today with a blu-ray! After reading the positive review today I went ahead and pre-ordered it- cant wait!

Well that just made my decision as to what I should spend my $50 in rewardzone certificates on. Thanks! I love Criterion and I wish there was a contest where you could just win all of them, cuz there's no way I could afford them all, but gawd... I love these discs.

I'd never even heard of this movie till Criterion listed it as one of their soon-to-be-released. Have already pre-ordered it on Amazon. Am really looking forward to watching this one.

Although Criterion always encodes all of its extras in HD, on most discs the majority of supplements are upconverted from standard def.

On a Criterion disc, if an extra is 1080p, it's true high def. If it's 1080i, it's an upconvert.

At least they did some digging, they didn't even bother taking the shovel out for Charade. Been a while since I've seen House, looking forward to renting the Blu from Netflix. Going by old memory, it was an enjoyable but not an immediate must own movie for me.
