Default 'The Karate Kid (2010)' - High-Def Digest Review

Our review of 'The Karate Kid (2010)' has just been posted. Drew was really entertained by this movie, which he says is surprisingly nuanced if a bit traditional. This Blu-ray features 4.5 star video and audio, and quite a few good extras. This one is highly recommended.

I'd rather watch The Next Karate Kid than this piece of crap.

...wait, no. I shouldn't say things I can't take back.

Does that mean you haven't seen it, or did see it but didn't like it?

I might have to check this version out. We screened the original for the kiddies a little while back, and I could not get over how bad the Karate actually was. Or how quickly Daniel-san picked it up (I think he started his training after getting his butt kicked on Halloween night, then was a "master" by Christmas....

I broke down and saw this amid all the hype. Not sure what the fuss was all about. As it's a remake, everything mirrored the original. Annoyingly so. I'm not a fan of the kid, so that doesn't help. I thought it was a pretty average movie. Didn't hate it. It was just, "Eh".

"Ent Weekly's" Owen G said to stay away from the original (leave it in the past), and check this out. Coudn't disagree more. When I walked out of the theater, I wanted to watch the original "KK" Blu-ray. I think the original has it all on this one.

Looking forward to checking this out. It's currently sitting on a shelf at home still in it's strink wrapping. I never got around to seeing it during its theatrical run, but I have sort of a soft spot for any movie that features China in any way. Glad to hear it looks great if nothing else.

No. At least I don't recall it being in the movie. Instead, we get some crappy Justin Bieber song at the end of the movie.

Personally i thought this was an awful movie spoiled by a smart ass, know it all and downright annoying child "star" , a cheesy location and overall unconvincing bouts of acting from all except Mr.Chan. Ended up fast forwarding to the end to leesen the cringe worthy pain.
To highly recommend this movie is a travesty. For the weak hollow vessel it is and not being even a patch on the original iīd say "bad flick" and thatīs being generous.
