Default Universal Catalog Titles coming...

Cross-posted from Blu-ray.com...

Quote:
According to retailer information, Universal Studios Home Entertainment is preparing a deluge of catalog Blu-ray releases, with no fewer than 15 very diverse movies, prominently including classics such as To Kill a Mockingbird and Hitchcock's The Birds, two John Landis comedies, a George Lucas non-scifi movie and several titles previously released on the defunct HD DVD.

Titles up for preorder include:
American Graffiti
Babe
A Beautiful Mind
Billy Madison
The Birds
Blue Crush
The Blues Brothers
Dazed and Confused
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Happy Gilmore
National Lampoon's Animal House
Out of Sight
Ray
To Kill a Mockingbird

Note that the studio hasn't officially announced those titles, and that if and when it does, the releases may be spread over different dates.
Nothing of interest here for me except for American Graffiti.

Have a bunch of those on HD-DVD and won't be upgrading, but I'm really stoked for The Birds, American Graffiti, and The Blues Brothers.

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of those "classics" that I just don't really care for that much.

wonder if we'll get a 3D relese of The Birds

Seriously though, thats the only title I am looking forward to(and possibly The Blues Bros). Like Bamboo, I have some of these on hd dvd and don't see the need to dbl dip. Good for those that are only though.

I'll wait for the official announcements.
I'm sure most will come out, but retailer info has been unreliable in the past.
I've been wondering forever when "To Kill A Mockingbird" to come out, and with the big anniversary this year, it makes sense.
and, of course, any Hitchcock is welcome.
I just watched "The Birds" the other day; wish I had waited now.
there are some really intense optic effects in the film, and if they haven't spent a lot of time and effort on the blu-ray, it could be a real disaster.
great news that Universal doesn't seem to be abandoning catalogs;
I'll at least give 'em that.

why....why The Birds before Vertigo. The Birds is one of Hitch's great films but....Vertigo is his best... EVER!!!
funny, i just reordered it from the library less than a 1/2 hour ago because i have to see it again during this wait time but maybe i'll watch it twice to keep the wanting down to a tolerable level.

animal house was part of the 10 film vote, you know, the vote that didn't matter since they were all coming anyways, unlike the criterion vote, that actually mattered.
