great news!
at least Warner makes us still care about blu-ray.
the other major studios--not so much.

Seriously! no one is talking about this amazing film!!

Well, this is a day one purchase for sure. Utterly emotional and powerful filmmaking, right here!

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

well I think part of the reason for that may be that no-one that cares about these types of films is left on here anymore.
there were never THAT many people to start with, but
I think it's just you and me now bra!
(I guess we can count BostonMA and Project-blu too)
just wait until the studio releases the converted 3D version where Oprah's character is played by Megan Fox in blackface.
this thread will be 20 pages long.

I'm in as well. I'll take this and "Empire of the Sun" over anything Spielberg has done since. (Though I do have a soft spot for "A.I.") Beautifully crafted, great performances all around, and criminally underrated.

I'm still here... just not actively posting as much as I used to (but I'm still reading the forums and reviews almost everyday).

Anyway, this is one of the few Spielberg films that I don't have on DVD, so this BD will make it's way into my collection about as soon as it hits store shelves. Love that it's a digi too.

Wonder if Spielberg commissioned a new master for blu-ray on this one?

very true. so few films I think of as underrated classics, but 'Color Purple' is near criminal the little appreciation it receives. Remarkable filmmaking, one of the most powerful pictures Spielberg has ever crafted, along with 'Schindler's List'. And I love the story of Walker being skeptical at first, but after she saw the final product, she knew Spielberg was the best person for the job.

You are severely underestimating the number of pages on that one!

Seriously it is a shame that more people really do not seem to want to spend the time with classic films to enjoy them properly. When I have posted regarding the availability of titles that fall under that category, responses are generally fewer and slower. Title by title though, this can vary.
