Default James Cameron says that the upcoming Aliens BD is 'totally de-grained'

Here is an interview with James Cameron where the director says that the forthcoming Aliens has been "totally de-noised, de-grained, up-rezzed, and colour corrected".
According to Cameron the film now looks spectacular and better than it did in theatres. Sure Aliens was shot on lower grade Kodak stock and could have looked better. To be honest when I saw clips on the 1080p trailer, it looked as though the grain had been removed. Doubtless this revelation will cause controversy, although I will make my final judgement on the end result in October.
Check out what he has to say on this video from 5.40 mins onwards:

Can't believe I'm saying this. I'd like the grain intact on this film. It gives it much more..... mood

I'm all for making it look better in this case.

Yeah there is no doubt that the grain enhanced Aliens atmospherically and watching the film without this will be a completely different experience. According to James Cameron - a much better experience. I guess the proof of this pudding will be discovered come October time.

Sounds like what I saw in the HD broadcast of Alien, plenty of grain removal giving it a video like look to it. And no that is not good.

I like that he actually did the restoration and that he seems to really be happy with the results, but yeah I hope its not wax museum status.

really not a lot to say.
more revisionist crap.
I'm sure it will look great; it just won't be the original film.
so much for all the reassurances by some other posters that nothing would be changed for these releases.
sad day for sure.
EDIT: I haven't really followed the Alien boxset release too closely, but if the TC is on this set unmolested then that is all I care about.
I have always said that if these directors want to change their own movies, fine, as long as they include the original also.
if this is the case with this release, then that is a welcome development.

If James Cameron approves of it, then that is the final word no matter what people think. It is his movie and his right to do whatever it takes to make it better.

looks like they will just be using seamless branching so they will both look the same.
as far as "being his own film..blah, blah, blah..." that's always a bunch of crap imo.
nobody has the right to ruin their own work imo.
look, it was too much to expect that Cameron wouldn't mess with this, and all the people that stated so clearly that this film wouldn't be tampered with are apparently totally wrong.
wonder if they'll come back and admit they were wrong, and that what we all feared has come to pass no matter how incredible Cameron think it looks.
the original Aliens is not coming out on bd.
case closed.
