Captain Old Fart says: there are definitely some nice ideas, moods, performances, effects and music here, but on a whole, the show doesn't really make it for me. The first season is rather self-serious and the second season is most, most decidedly not.

wow, I guess I kind of qualify, but not really.
I was always fascinated by this series, but honestly even I can't see this selling that many units.
Don't get me wrong--it's obviously considered a classic sc-fi series, but definitely 2nd tier imo.
it's on the tier with series like "Lost in Space"--the type of series that has its devoted fans, but that never achieved the type of universal appeal that something like "Star Trek" or "The Twilight Zone" did.
I have to admit I'm rather stunned this is coming to bd; I would never have considered this series getting a blu-ray release this soon.
I haven't seen enough episodes to comment too much on the overall quality of the series, but I've never gotten the idea it was anything that amazing.
I'm sure fans of the series will be overjoyed and shocked by this news.

I remember owning this toy ship from the series:

Totally awesome. Used to fly my Star Wars figures around in it.

I absolutely love this series. It's very much in the vein of 2001, and has a more philosophical approach to science fiction than other shows did. The second season has much more action and introduces a few new characters that the first season's didn't have, but all in all the first season was much better. I have the A & E DVD set, so hopefully the BD can improve on the sound and video quality. Day 1 purchase for me!

OH! I had that too. I loved pulling off the front of the ship and making it the escape module version. Very cool toy, almost as cool as the Star Wars Death Star space station.
