Default "Kalifornia": August 3rd

from MGM/Fox
Bill H. says--

"and here's a bit of good news from Fox and MGM - they've announced a new batch of catalog Blu-ray + DVD sets for release on 8/3 (SRP $24.99 each), including a few titles we haven't seen on Blu-ray: Blood Simple, Bull Durham, Escape from New York and Kalifornia. Also coming that day are new combos of Fargo, The Graduate, Never Say Never Again, Out of Time, The Princess Bride, Spaceballs, Walking Tall, Road House and the Rollerball remake (some of these are $19.99 each). For the new titles, there are two packaging options - DVD case or Blu-ray case. FINALLY, Escape from New York in HD!"

Excellent news. Or well i still have yet to finish the movie but damn Pitt is soo good in it. This movie totally went under the radar at its time. Pitt before his pretty boy phase in such a crazy role.

Very cool, I added my "Kalifornia" to some pre-orders at Amazon DE a while back-good to see a US release. One of Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis' more interesting roles, IMHO.

Yeah, Kalifornia rocked!

But I don't know Idioteque, when did Brad Pitt have a 'pretty boy' phase, exactly? Chronologically from Kalifornia, to True Romance, to Se7en, to 12 Monkeys, to Fight Club, to the Assassination of Jesse James, to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, to Inglourious Basterds, Pitt has always had gritty and/or unique roles in films.

As much as I liked him in Legends of the Fall and Interview with the Vampire he was portrayed as a pretty boy and Meet Joe Black. Seven years in Tibet banked on his pretty boyness.

The thing is the roles where he did act and were some of his best movies went under the radar. But recently ever since Pitt made his comeback to quality he's no longer known as the pretty boy. He looks like Grandpa Pitt lol. Hell girls don't even go crazy for Leo now. At least the teen girls of the 90s had taste. hahaha

Btw here is the coverart, it kind of sucks.

I believe this will be one of those 'under-the-radar' flicks.
So, hopefully, the studio wont screw-it-up, just too please the masses.
It's just not that kind of film, maybe it will look like film.

The SD DVD was non-anamorphic (w/EE); they'll have too create a new master.
