Default 'Edge of Darkness' - High-Def Digest Review

Aaron has reviewed 'Edge of Darkness.' He says this film is worth watching, as it's not just the rock 'em sock 'em vengeance-fest the previews would have you believe. This Blu-ray has solid video, good audio (with a few gruffly muttered dialogue issues), and a thin layer of extras on top. Give it a rent.

The scene in the trailer where he says that thing about getting nailed to a cross always made me laugh. So corny.

That's actually the best line in the movie. You may want to skip it G.

Didn't like this one much at all, personally. Almost dozed off a couple of times in the theater when I watched it. I think the best parts where when someone in my theater shouted 'Mad Max' halfway through the movie, and later on when someone (presumably the same guy) shouted 'Beyond Thunderdome' near the end.

Yeah, he's cool. He has a couple very good scenes in the flick, don't think it's a spoiler, but it appears they hacked up his part though. Should have been more of a force in the film, but turns out playing a sort of background character, kind of weird actually. His character is introduced, becomes pointless, then comes back for a kick ass scene.

I like Gibson as an actor, he's got charisma and he's convincing.
Mel deserves only the best and the coolest scripts.
...Anything less simply diminish his persona and his talent.
I will rent this real soon.

Adequate movie. Weird to hear an Aussie with a Boston accent, but a decent enough rental.

Hey Favelle, sorry here to be off topic just for a sec, but did you happen to watch or buy 'Saving Private Ryan' on ?
I ask you because you're from the same town as me. And I would like to know your opinion about this sync issue. ...Or perhaps some of your friends.

    Thanks,

Master of the facial expression, especially anger and remorse, Gibson personifies his role as Thomas Craven. He's one of the best actors at carrying entire scenes with facial expressions alone, no words needed. We know exactly how he's feeling at any given moment, he's just that good.
Whaa..? I disagree 100%. Am I the only one to feel that Mel Gibson is capable of only two convincing facial expressions, pissed-off and goggle-eyed stupid? Perhaps it's just my prejudice speaking, I can't stand the guy.

As far as I know, he grew up in the States.

I know I keep on about it, but I hope that this somehow results in a better version of the original BBC TV series being released. Even on SD DVD. Please.

PS Note the wonderful Eric Clapton soundtrack in the original. Haunting stuff, not action drama.
