I think I may have to sell my HD DVD copy and get this Blu Ray instead.

DTS-MA would sound pretty damn sweet!!

DTS codecs are built on core + extension methodology, so I imagine they took the 6.1 DTS-ES track from the HD DVD and "added" the extension or extra information back in needed to make the soundtrack lossless.

It should be interesting to compare the 6.1 DTS-ES track to the 6.1 DTS-HD MA, and the DTS-HD MA track to the 5.1 Dolby TrueHD track. Too bad I presently only have enough room for a 5.1 setup.

It's actually a DD TrueHD EX track that is on the HD-DVD. So the DTS-MA is not adding a extra channel. I was totally blown away by the HD-DVD release, great sound and was really able to get drawn into the movie.

Technically it is. DD EX has a matrixed (aka "phantom") channel, while DTS-HD:MA should theoretically include a discrete channel. But it's a minor quibble.

I mentioned when they released the HD DVD, that the exclusive deal Paramount signed probably didn't specify how they released their titles. I may be right.

Nice to see this release has some extras and they use the latest codecs.

Thanks.
With an SPDIF amp you won't benefit at all from either PCM or TrueHD.

Question True Dobly with DTS HD MA On the same disc?

Is This the first time a True DD track and a DTS HD MA track are on the same Blu-Ray? I've always wanted to compare both systems, but since getting into Blu-Ray, I haven't been able to find any films with both of what are considered the best surroundsound systems on Blu-Ray Video. I natually have to feel that DTS will win this battle, but what about the PCM Dobly track? Can that soundtrack really stand up to the high bit-rate of DTS? At any rate, I'm looking forward to this release, if in fact, we are going to have a wider chocie of surround this time on a major Blu-Ray release.
