I just hope the Pic and Auduio quality are up to scratch. The Patriot DC was very nice indeed but got Final Fantasy this morning and the video quality is weak. Very soft Pic quality... :-/

I couldn't get through more than 20 mintues of it, and I tryed hard too. It is by far the worst thing I've ever seen, nothing to laugh about. None of the same actors either just to let ya know.

I loved this movie, and will definitely check it out on Blu-ray.

Never bothered with the sequel though.

you should see the Bond movies making their way to blu-ray next year

I love the Connery ones but I also love the Roger Moore movies, especially Moonraker, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only and View to a Kill.

TD's Licence to Kill is also brill.

Mine has just been shipped from sendit.
Got a release date of the 6th here in the UK so looks like i might get it a little ahead of time.
Will review it as soon as it gets here and will post my views in enoize's tier thread.
Again this is the Region B version but i doubt if there is any differance to the Region A version

They have different distributors - Disney in the UK, Sony in the US - so differences are possible.

Remember that the UK edition of Traning Day is VC-1 and the UK Rocky Balboa is MPEG-2 (and looks great). The US versions were MPEG-2 and AVC respectively.

Thanx Kid Banana,didn't know that.

Will look at the distributors if we here in the uk get them before the usa.
Looking into getting a few region A movies myself.
I got to take note of release studio's as i know a few of them are not enforceing the codeing 100% at the moment.

Yeah the problem is they won't be released until November 08 (market tie-in to Bond 22), probably those same 4 sets at $100-$125 each. Unfortunately we may get the same exact version (although 1080P) from the ultimate edition. The UE of Goldeneye was butchered (cuts on the OAR of 2:35), compare that to the old Special Edition release and you will see what I mean. Looks like Sony and Fox will be lazy and not fix anything (Also flaws on the Spy Who Loved Me UE vs. Old Special Edition for the worse).

Who is distrubuting the old bonds? Fox? I have the UE's and I noticed the Fox logo on the box. I think Sony does a better job.

How so Sony and Fox? MGM are responsible for those DVD's and I think they did a tremendous job, but will be even better in 1080p

All films were scanned at 4k by Lowry Digital.

Mi Casa Multimedia Inc did all the audio remastering.

Score

Original masters from the films only had mono dialogue, music and sound effects - so how can 5.1 surround sound tracks be created? The answer came in the shape of original scoring session at Abbey Road Studios, London. A cornucopia of tracks and formats have been reshaped to form polished surround sound sound by using clips and segments from unused recordings to patch up the original masters.

Faults such as crackle, hiss or other areas of low quality in the original tracks have been surgically replaced with pieces selected from up to eight hours of original session recordings. Messing with a classic Bond film will have most fans gritting their teeth, but this clever use of unused takes keep the soundtracks authentic, without the need to synthesise replacements.

Effects

Unlike the music tracks, the special effects could not always be put into the surround environment without some artistic licence. Some spot effects and sounds had to be recreated or added as new by specialist group "Lunatek Music" to deliver a rich surround sound track.

Due to the technical restrictions of the old formats, low frequencies which went unnoticed would spoil a modern digital surround track, so many of the deep bass noises have been altered or added as necessary. At the other end of the spectrum, for similar reasons, gun shots and tyre screeches have been dialled down. The larger dynamic range of the modern technology should provide an exciting new dimension to the audio special effects, but Bond purists need not worry though, as the original mono sound track will also feature on the DVD so you can switch back to the original traditional if you desire.

Audiophiles may like to know that Mi Casa selected the brand new Bryston SP 7.1 multi-channel preamplifirer/processors for use in the James Bond remastering project.
I think they'll be fab on Blu-ray.
