This movie wasn't bad, it was just remarkably unoriginal. It felt very paint-by-number. A remake of Titanic set in Pompeii.

What a shame. I grew up fascinated with the story of Pompeii and later in life I visited the area a few times.

I would love for someone to make a good movie on this scale about the city.

3.5 stars? Really? Maybe I seen a different Pompeii. The one I seen could barely be given 2! :))

It's 2.5 stars for the movie, actually, mostly due to the second half. The 3.5 is for the overall package, taking into account the video, audio and supplements.

Great review E. Think this will be a blind buy for me.

Blind buy, picking it up from Best Buy on the way home.

If it's visually as appealing as other Paul W.S. Anderson films, I'll be very happy with the purchase.

I may have to rethink my original decision to skip this release. You know, Paul WS Anderson got some flack about his Three Musketeers 3D film, but I found it to be highly enjoyable, a diamond in the rough. Even though this one gets bad reviews often, that doesn't mean I'll not like it. Hell, I hate just about everything the mainstream audience loves and love a lot of things they hate.

I feel he is underrated, he just needs better scripts. If I needed a director for a 3D film, he's the one I'd pick.
