You mean I and II, right? No one would ever buy III by itself.

There's no way War of the Worlds is going to be branded with this. Same with Collateral and Terminal. It's branding for award-winning/highly regarded movies that'll be presumably remembered for decades. I mean I love Collateral, certainly more than the first 3 Sapphire releases, but I don't see Paramount slapping the title on.

Titanic, Apocalypse Now, Chinatown, Saving Private Ryan, Sunset Blvd., Terms of Endearment, Ten Commandments, probably. Best chances IMO are Titanic and Private Ryan. I think the schmaltzy SS packaging is going to look really bad and be pretty inappropriate for movies like SPR and Apocalypse Now, too.

It's also a shameless way to jack up the price on catalog releases. Between the DNR infested catalogs and this, Paramount is seriously one of the worst HD studios.

This crap is the same as the "collector's edition", "deluxe edition", "platinum series", "gold edition", "limited edition", "ultimate edition" covers that everyone did with DVD, they're never worth anything, not THAT limited or any special, and they'll just re-release it over and over again with a new title on it.

i liked III a great deal, sophia coppola's acting sucks ass but pacino's is fantastic and the story is very strong and the ending shows you miserable michael corleone's life really is.

i agree, the "sapphire series" is the dumbest name i've ever heard of, when i first saw it on the news i thought hdd was just naming it to be kinda funny/creative. i dont want any of my paramount "sapphires" to have the term "sapphire series" on the cover art...

as for releases, minority report, RTP, and war of the worlds would be really nice (although i dont think MR or WotW would be in this collection) but i NEED HEAT AND COLLATERAL!!!!!

Agreed! I'd love to see that one released just for Thomas Newman's score in lossless audio.

Didn't love the movie, but the cinematography is excellent and I'm betting would look phenomenal in HD.

I don't know who thinks of these names or why, but they have the easiest job at Paramount. Because, clearly, nothing is refuted if "Sapphire Series" is what they went with.
I guess you're not into alliteration much. Diamond Disc? nope. Platinum Platter? meh. Sapphire Series . . . . now, that sounds sexy (but not in a classy porn way)
