I agree. I already said that for me (with the German blu) it wasn't worth reinvesting in a US version when the only upgrade would be additional bonus material. We are in agreement there.

One is VC-1 (german) and 2 are AVC/MPEG4, and they are not all the same as of that + that they all have different audio codecs.

I would say a 4 is to low for this title, i mean it must look a hell of alot better then 3 days of the condor

Which disc has what audio codec? Just out of curiousity.

Not really, no. They do look very different from one another, but that doesn't necessarily make one "better" than the other. The Machinist is sharper, but Three Days of the Condor doesn't have any edge enhancement. Beyond that, it's an apples-to-oranges comparison. These two movies aren't supposed to look anything like one another.

For my money it is a really good movie. I think that it could have been a little better, but certainly nothing to complain about. As stated earlier in this thread, the creepiest thing is how Bale looks in the film. You will be shocked, to put it mildly

There's a fourth release. Since december 08 it's available here in Spain. The technical aspects are:

AVC encoding

DTS-HD MA English
DTS-HD MA Spanish
DD 5.1 English
DD 5.1 Spanish

Subs in english/spanish

Also features some 4/3 SD extras, with english/spanish audio.

- "Making of" (31:06). On the reviewed US BD it lasts for 25m
- 12:25 minutes of deleted scenes,
- Brad Anderson's commentary
- "Imágenes de rodaje" (On-Set footage) (20:30)
- "Presentación y rueda de prensa" (Presentation and press conference) (18:17)
- Trailer (1:43)
- Teaser (1:42), a few of them actually
- Spots (0:20), spanish audio only

I think the names of the last extras were unintentionally switched when authored.

Having just seen this for the first time, I more or less agree with the review text but not the final score - I would bump it up a star. Although I must disagree with this line "His sallow, bony features actually distract from the story at times." I was never distracted. His bony body is a manifestation OF the story and is a complete marvel, almost becoming a character in and of itself. The movie parallels Jacobs Ladder in a few ways which is another movie I enjoy..

I thought the transfer was fantastic too..
