'Live From Abbey Road: Best Of Season One' - High-Def Digest Review

Ernie has reviewed 'Live From Abbey Road: Best Of Season One' He enjoyed the show and think this is a great sampling of performances. This Blu-ray has five star video, excellent audio, but few supplements. Still, this one comes highly recommended.

Spot on review:) I rented this a while back and this is a great disc, fantastic mix, awesome recording, etc...Great variety of music as well.

I have the three-song Jamiroquai set from another source (Korean TV) and it's fantastic despite being DD2.0. I'd have loved to have the whole set on ths disc. It's a shame that we only get a "best of" for this.

The series has a great look. For the most part it seems to be shot with fast lenses and ambient (or minimal additional) light which gives an intimacy and richness to the video that you don't get in a typical performance video.

I would love to see more of the season on BR and maybe they will give us more with a season 2 release. Hell, I would watch every episode with this kind of quality!:)

1080i and it gets 5/5 for PQ. That's saying something!

Have people in the USA actually heard of Kasabian or Nerina Pallot?

Kasabian are a decent live draw here in the UK but Pallot is still relatively obscure so I'm suprised they have made it onto a US highlights disc.

It might have been shot 1080/30PsF, and therefore, while the straight transfer to Blu-ray will allow it to be technically 1080i60, it essentially is still 30 FPS. That kind of content will compress much easier than true 1080i60.

I'd link you the article to Wikipedia about progressive segmented frames, but apparently it's considered spamming when you have under 10 posts (forget the fact that I've been a registered member for months...).

Just type in 1080PsF and you'll find it.

Hmmm.... never heard of the series and never heard of half the acts on the disc. This is one reason why I come here: to discover gems that otherwise would pass under my radar. So I'll probably pick this up .... wait for it ... once the price comes to reasonable levels, as usual. Thanks for the review! :)

I have not heard of either Kasabian or Nerina, and I like to think of myself as sort of hip to UK entertainment.
