'Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade' -- pre-release buzz

Bandai Visual has announced their latest anime release for Blu-ray, 'Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade'

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/jinrohwolfbrigade.html

Specs include remastered 1080p video and 5.1 audio (format not yet specified).

Extras are slim with only the theatrical trailers included, though the set comes in collectible packaging with a 20-page booklet and separate 552-page storyboard compendium.

Due to the heft of the set, retail is $79.98.

The movie is pretty good. I have it on DVD. It's one of my top anime's...

Nice

Anime is huge here in Austraila. Most retailers have large sections devoted to Anime. This should sell well when it's released here. Give me Akira & Metropolis=p~

For $79 MSRP you better be a fan!!! I'm sure retail won't be as steep but damn.

Who the hell do they think they are, charging 80 freakin' dollars for each of their releases? On top of that, they're not putting them in standard BD cases. Do not want.

Sony is releasing Paprika and Tekkonkinkreet at regular prices. Bandai should get a clue.

Interesting that this was announced just for Blu-ray. Seeing as how Bandai Visual is supporting both formats.

Bandai Visual in Japan hasn't announced a new HD DVD disc in a few months now. Their September releases are the last ones so far. Everything announced from October on has been BD only. The only thing left will be the Freedom release and the third volume hasn't been solicited yet.

Man, this is awesome - I'll be picking it up on release day. I haven't seen it but I've heard good things - wow, I'm really loving how anime titles are starting to come to high-def - if anything will get me to hang on to my players and keep supporting Tosh/Sony - it is this.

Who has rights to Akira? If it is a blu ray studio then I may have to get one. I already am considering it for Spiderman and now "Jin Roh" I had it on dvd and it is a pretty deep movie to me. I enjoy anime that isn't mindless. :D
