I was denied my cold war fix last night! This disk won't load on my Sony BDP-S300 (unit has the original firmware). This is the first disk with which I've encountered any compatibility issues on this machine. Has anyone suffered similar problems, and were you able to resolve them with a firmware update?

Me either... I hated it. Horrible shlock. Sean Connery is a clown.

U571 blows this nonsense away.

HUNT, CRIMSON TIDE, U-571 are all great films.

Like other's mentioned, I didn't get into HUNT when I first saw it, guess cause I didn't understand the political intrigue, after I got it, I now see it as an outstanding film.

However like others have mentioned, as far as a submarie flick, i'd still have to give it to DAS BOOT as the finest one i've seen!

I watched this last night. I think that it looked a bit better than the HD DVD. It was a bit sharper in places although both disks are soft in alot of places. I dont really understand why some parts are razor sharp and similar sceans are fuzzy. Also some of the camera pans seemed a bit jerky although this was on my 60 inch which is only 60f.

I am convinced by the plain gray disks that all of these Jack Ryan movies have been sitting on a freaking pallet for a year though. I wish that they just would have released them right before they went HD DVD exclusive.

Oh my god I can't believe you actually said that. Puleez! U-571 was utter tripe! The original negative should be burned and tossed into the trash.

Hunt for Red October is a billion times better.

Don't worry, I'm sure he was being sarcastic.

What happened to the box set? Is Paramount just releasing these individually instead?

Correct. Paramount decided to release them seperately on Blu-ray. Many people are fine with this because they aren't stuck buying Sum of All Fears.

Same problem with my Sony BDP-301 (original firmware); disc loads on my Panasonic Elite BDP-94HD (original firmware) but then freezes at 13 seconds into startup... >200 blu-rays, but 1st non-playable disc!
