Great films, but I grew up in NY in an Italian family...I have seen these movies, even as a child way too many times...I'll likely hold off on buying the set for a few months at least.

Just watched The Godfather. As was said throughout the thread, the sound was much better than anticipated. I crank up the sound when I watch movies and the explosions, gun shots and such were very encompassing and clear. The dialogue was sharp. Visually, of course, it wasn't a knockout, but in comparison with the SD versions I bought a few years ago, there is quite a difference. This is one of those sets that, as a film fan, I felt like was a MUST buy. I wasn't let down in the least.

Getting ready to watch The Godfather 2, my day is shot! :-) Freddy

I just finished with the first Godfather. It was bomb!

Not complete reference but 4 stars all the way across. That video, especially the skin tones, on Brando and the interior of the house, was great! It made me want to drink a nice scotch or cognac--very warm film.

Onward to part 2!

So I netflixed up GF I & II, got them in this weekend. Video quality ranges from slight improvement over upscale DVD to wow, on the whole I'm rather pleased with the restoration. I did noticed the contrast boosts and associated hot spots etc, but to be perfectly frank I actually think it enhanced the expereince.

For me, the best really did get better. I'm (sadly) going to have to hold off on a purchase since it's only available in the $80 pack and I'm trying to stabalize a bit economically, but it's high on my must buy list.

Watched 1 and 2. These are five star transfers in my opinion.
