Aside from the DNR/EE issue, why is Warner not utilizing seemless branching on their BDs? It's such a waste of space that could be used to create a single more superior encode.

I honestly can't remember the last time I went and looked in the blu ray software and bargains forums over at AVS. It's unbeatable for hardware and home theater discussions, but I think the software and bargains forum here is SOOO much more enjoyable to spend time on than over there.

I thought the US version had a 7.1 DTS-HD MA track.

so the screenshots in the review are JPEGs with a watermark added, meaning they've made at least one trip through Photoshop. If they're supposed to be indicative of how the Blu-ray looks, why not use a lossless format like PNG?

An uncompressed 1080p frame would be around a 6MB file, if I remember correctly. How representative is a <200k JPEG of an already lossily compressed frame really going to be?

For many things JPEGs are fine, but when you're talking about comparing two releases of a movie, aside from showing us how many more pixels are in the BD, what does this really accomplish?

Wait, the DC and the theatrical cut are stored separately with no branching? What the fuck?

Well, sorry....but its generally true. Plus, I have noticed that if you even try to counter their DNR rants you end up getting ridiculed or whatever. They seem to really, really like grain and noise. They claim it shows more detail. I say that anything more than a little grain makes the image look noisy. I didnt get into HD to watch dirty, grainy crap.

My favorite is when they clamor about how the Blu-ray transfer doesnt look like it did in the theater. Its like.... ummm... the movie is 40 years old guys. Thank GOD Blu-ray does NOT look like a theater from the 1950s. Geesh.
