Bill Hunt: Lord of the Rings BR; Theatrical Only, Extended to Follow.

Bill Hunt says that the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is coming from Warner next year, as THEATRICAL EDITIONS only. The Extended editions will follow.

"Finally, our industry sources have hinted to us that when Warner delivers The Lord of the Rings films on Blu-ray Disc, some time late next year, they will very likely be the original theatrical versions. But don't freak out and run off to start a petition or something. There's good reason for it: Word is that director Peter Jackson wants to save the Extended Editions for an elaborate and ultimate Blu-ray box set release closer to the debut of the new Hobbit films in theatres. This way, as was the case with the previous DVD releases, you'll eventually get both versions and the best will be saved for last."

I for one will probably just skip the Theatrical edition and wait for the Extended Cuts.
Still for LOTR fans, this is good news right!?
What will you do!?

PS: I think it's funny that Bill's sources are just now telling him about the Fox titles that we've known about for weeks, and that already have cover art and pre-orders up on amazon.

I'll just rent the theatrical versions to ew and aw at the high def imagery and lossless audio, but I'll plunk my money down on the extended cuts to actually include the discs in my video library.

what is the theatrical release of 'The Hobbit' planned for anyway?

Meh I will wait for for extended cuts, kind of disappointing...
