I don't know why but Lionsgate's transfers seem to all be in bad shape. Even T2 seemed flat to me.

POTC: AWE - I got it at a great price, but still should have known better - I didn't like the first two, but I never made it past halfway on this one after 3 tries.
Yeah it was such a big mess. Parts 2 and 3 should each have been self contained stories. The unnecessary side stories and sub plots bury the leads and really make it a chore to sit through.

My worst buy was the Messengers. The PQ is amazing but the story isn't scary or original.

My list:

-Sleepy Hollow (love the movie, hated the transfer)
-Crank (blind buy, love the transfer, can't stand the movie)
-Tomb Raider (very inconsistent transfer, drove me bananas)
-The Prestige (I know, I know...great transfer, great cast, everyone likes this
movie except me. And something you don't like in HD is still something you don't like.)

How about you guys?
Ultraviolet.
I bought it for my 7 year old daugher, and even she hated it.
I gave it for free to the guy that I sold my Sammy 1400 to.

300 looks great on my pj btw. The grain is sorted with a little adjustment and there's no pulsing - it's stunning to look at.
300 looks terrific on my projector too - the OP might want to check their sharpness and contrast settings.

I haven't blind bought anything that I was disappointed with so far.

Well, I would have liked Edward Scissorhands to be a bit sharper and to not have the annoying film weave, but hey.. it was in a BOGO and the only other copy I had was on laserdisc.

That leads to my next point - I'm only buying BDs for films I either never got around to buying or only had on laserdisc. It doesn't matter how bad the transfer is, it's going to be a better experience than non-anamorphic NTSC analog video with a 10-second pause after ~55 minutes while the head flips to the other side of the disc.

BDs I've bought to replace LD copies:

Reservoir Dogs
Edward Scissorhands
The Shining
Die Hard
The Wild Bunch

Satisfied with all of them under the above criteria.

I am trying to think very critically about buying repeats of my DVD titles. I think the only one I've doubled up on so far was Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, because it's one of my favourites from the last few years. KKBB also has more features that the Australian bare-bones DVD (which I paid $8 for), so it wasn't a difficult choice.

Final Fantasy: Spirits Within-transfer was okay but the film was worse then I remember

Payback Director's Cut: wasn't impressed with the transfer and the DC of the film wasn't good. I want the theatrical cut on Blu-ray.

Sold only two so far...

Entrapment (from amazon's BOGO). Mediocre, both Film & BD.
American Psycho (from 5 Free BD's). Couldn't stand the BD.

I've seen both and Dreamgirls blows Wild Hogs away. I think "cheesy" is way off-base even if only taken as an opinion that someone is giving. I would accept "over-long" as a reason for disliking it though.

Ok, it was "over-long" then!

It guess it just wasn't my cup of tea? After all of the awards it won I was expecting something different! Obviously, many people really enjoyed the film... So I guess (Cheesy) was the wrong word to use!

Dude...Did you really think with 2 pages worth of responses Crank wasn't gonna be listed at least twice. It's one of those "love it or hate it" kind of movies, the same could be said for Shoot 'Em Up. I loved Crank and I'm looking forward to adding it to my collection. I don't suppose you have the extended edition? PM me if you do and let me know if it's worth the extra $$$$
