I love the way my Ps3 is for BD right now, but I can seem myself buying a new stand alone in a coupe of years. Probably a Pioneer Elite or something.

Right now I am using my PS3 to play Blu-Ray movies and my Xbox 360 add on to play HD-DVDs. I think both machines work perfectly fine for the time being, but I honestly never liked using video game machines to play movies. For example, I would have never dreamed of using my Playstation 2 to play DVDs...thats just ghetto.

I'm just waiting to see how this "format war" turns out, and once it seems like the dust has settled I'll buy either a standalone HD-DVD player or a stand alone Blu-Ray player. Either way though, I'm really enjoying both formats for right now...and if I could find both stand alone players for $200 or below then I wouldn't mind getting both an HD-DVD player and a Blu-Ray player

When DTS-HD MA is going to be properly decoded if the PS3 can't do it. If the PS3 can do it, no bd standalone for me. Already got an HD DVD stand alone.

I'm happy with my PS3 just using it for BD only. The add-on is great too. I don't see myself getting a standalone anytime soon. I'll get one if the PS3 or addon craps out on me. Even if it does I probably will get another system. So my vote is I am not going to get a standalone. Unlike most of the people here I know not as much. I am not an audio/videophile so the sytems suits me just fine. Thats my opinion and sticking to it.

I can't justify purchasing a standalone player unless the price was ridiculously low, and it would have to offer something pretty important that the PS3 isn't capable of. The PS3 is a fine player IMO, and firmware updates are easy to do and should make it somewhat future-proof. Not to be a downer either, but who's to say BD will be around in 5 years? I think I've taken enough of a gamble by being an early adopter for right now.

The only stand alone I would get is a Hybrid (HD DVD & BD) player, I'm waiting for the Samsung.

I'm happy with my PS3 but I do see myself buying a standalone at some point. Just not anytime soon. I'll wait until players with the 1.1 profile and DTS HD MA decoding are available.

I'm keeping my PS3 as my Blu Ray player. Why should I have to pay again for a standalone when my PS3 works perfectly fine. Even after it craps out on me I will still probably get another PS3 for the games I have for it!! Why would I want to just throw them away ya know!!
Mischa.

I have the PS3 and the HDA2, and don't really intend to get a stand alone unless I get a combo player for my bedroom. That is, assuming I get a new TV for the bedroom haha.

As of now though I'm perfectly fine with the PS3 doing the dirty work for me.
