When I get back from my vacation in mid June, I am planning on buying a Blu Ray Player. But I need your guys help on which one to buy? I want a good player thats not to loud, and has good quality. And is there any Blu Ray players that have any special offers? (like free movies or rebates?)
![]() I currently own a 50" LCD Sony Projection Tv and I love it. But the outputs on my tv are 480i,480p,720p and 1080i. My question is...On the back of my TV I only have one HDMI cable slot, and right now it is currently hooked up to my Direct TV box. Do I need to unplugged it and switch it over to the Bluray player? Or leave it in the direct tv box. ![]() Last edited by BlkM383; 05-23-2007 at 12:21 PM. |

Here is what I recommend. High-deg cable signals only come in at 720p or 1080i, so you might as well use component cables to connect your Direct TV box to your TV. Then you can connect you Blu-ray player viw HDMI.
Or you could do it the other way around since apparently your TV can not display a 1080p signal. |

The new Panasonic DMPBD10A comes with 5 free Blu-ray movies, including both Pirates 1 and 2, Transporter, Crash, and Fantastic Four. MSRP is $599.

The Panasonic Press Release says the player is "available" but it's on pre-order through websites.
I also should throw in that I agree with Mentok, use the HDMI for the Blu-ray and component for Sat. |

The new Sony hasn't been reviewed yet, and I haven't seen one, but the specs indicate the BDP-1200 should be a better player. It has the Realta HQV scaler chip making the imagine better, plus upscaling is amazing.

The Panny BD10A and the PS3 are the only "good" choices for Blu-ray players right now, in my opinion. If I didn't own a PS3 I'd probably buy a BD10A.

I havent bought a Blu-ray player yet but if I were to buy a stand alone player today it would be the panasonic. Primary reasons are 7.1 output and it can decode Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD.
