Yikes, expensive. I like the quality of Pioneer, and a cheaper player may cause me to go neutral. At this price though, I can wait.

Default $1000??????

With HD DVD Players priced in the $300 range, does Pioneer really expect there to be demand for a $1000 stand alone player?

Default Yikes!

No DTS-HD (possibly)? I don't get it. What's the point? Besides making us spend MORE money.

Most if not all of the FOX Titles offer DTS HD. Pretty dumb idea. And maybe no 1.3 HDMI? What are they thinking? It's already $1,000 over priced in my opinion.

Pioneer is my fav brand but Onkyo starting to sound better and better to me.

Why so expensive? This is not how you win the market.

I don't think it's too expensive. It's an Elite player after all. The DV-79AVi is just a universal DVD player, and it's $1000 too.

Yes, not everyone that has a $50K plus professional installed
Home Theater wants a $300 Game player add-on. Those
are fine for the teenagers bedroom and J6P Living Rooms.

Generally, the better quality, expensive components have
far fewer call backs and repair. I consider $300 disposible
and certainaly cheaper than on-site fix. Usually a temporary
fix at that.

When I had spoken to the Pioneer rep at my BB store a few months ago, he ASSURED me it would have HDMI 1.3 and I really do not seem them missing that this time around. And I am confident this new player will be able to support the bitstream transportation of DTS-HD master audio at the very least. Which should be cool considering they finally released information on their Elite line of HDMI 1.3a receivers...

Meridian seems to think there's a market for a $13,000 CD player, so why not?

This isn't a "Pioneer" Blu-ray player, it's a "Pioneer Elite" Blu-ray player.

As much as I want a Blu-ray Elite player, I'm holding out till they finalize the details...otherwise so far it looks like I may have to wait for their 3rd gen product. No way I'd put a grand down at this point.
