Default New Pioneer Elite Blu-ray player

I heard from our Pioneer rep a few days ago that they will be releasing a new Blu-ray player here pretty soon. Unfortunately he gave no details on what it will have or what price it will be. I will keep you guys posted...

Is it the BDP-HD1 that was announced awhile back or a newer model? I'd love to get the HD1 but I'm holding out for the 2nd gen model.

I have heard rumors that Pioneer will come out with their second generation sometime this year . The BDP-HD1 is Pioneers current AND first generation player.

The information I have is that the BDP-HD1 has a 50% failure rate. They are unavailable currently because of this. The BDP-HD1 is receiving an update (sort of like the Panny is getting) to bring it up to speed with the spec changes.

I think they should give it a new model name, but they'll probably keep the same.

What Pioneer needs to do is release a broadline model at $500.

They have already released a firmware for the player, our Pioneer rep also updated our player while he was there (although there are still some problems with it) They will not make this new one the same model number as the existing one, the way he spoke, it will be a different design.

It's official

The new models BDP-HD1.5 will have a MAP of $1000 will probably offer CD playback, faster booting, and new audio codecs through HDMI 1.2. This product may be released in May. They may offer a Pioneer branded Blue-Ray player at a slightly lower price point.
the 1.5 designation suggests it's a new model but just an upgrade to the HD1.

Where did you get that information, the way our rep talked it would be a completely new player, not an enhanced version of the existing one...
