Default Turning off PS3 with bluetooth remote?

I am looking for some help guys....I have a new PS3 80gig.....and I am having a difficult time trying to get the unit to turn off with either the 6axis controller or the extra bluetooth sony remote I bought?

Do I have to configure something? Both controllers are assigned?

Any newbie instructions would be apprecaited.

thanks.

Hit the "PS" button once and then the "Enter" button twice.

Hold down the PS3 button and you'll get the option to either "turn off the controller, or turn off the system" Pick either one IF YOU DARE! BWAH HAHA HA HA!

I have had personal experiences with the PS3 freezing when getting ready to turn it off. If the above suggestions fail, trying turning it off from the console or if it still does not work, switch the main power unit to off then turn it back on.

I am doing something wrong......If I am playing a game, it is no problem to turn it off with the remote....but if I am on the PS3 menu....sometimes the remote won't turn it off?

Turning off the unit from on/off button on the front of the unit always works.

Perhaps your batteries are going out. Turning off the unit from within the game and from the Dashboard is the exact same way of doing it. Try switching batteries or just make sure they are securely fastened in the remote if you have trouble again.

BTW, also make sure your system is completely up-to-date in firmware too. I doubt that is the problem, but sometimes the smaller things help.

first of all is the controller on? sometimes when u switch different controllers u need to designate the main one. like your done with rock band but the guitar is recognized as the main controller. turn it off press ps button on controller or remote now one of those are the main controller. press ps button to turn off system or controller.

Unless the setting has been changed manually, the remote acts as a separate device from the controllers, and should always be on and recognized as long as the remote receives power. Controller numbers can be designated but the remote is a different device than controllers despite having the same functions/buttons.
