Default Panasonic BD30 Audio?

I was wondering what would be the best settings for me to use on the Panny BD30 with my current setup for audio?

This is my setup:
Samsung 50" 1080p DLP (1080p/60)
Onkyo 604 (accepts HDMI audio/video passthrough)

Digital Audio Output:
Dolby Digital: Bitstream or PCM?
DD+/TrueHD: Bitstream or PCM?
DTS: Bitstream or PCM?
DTSHD: Bitstream or PCM?
PCM Down Conversion: On or Off?

When I click on info for my receiver, I get MCH 48K, instead of the usual 96K that I would get though the PS3 or A30.....I have everything set to PCM.

Why not just make them all bitstream?

If your 604 doesn't do HBR audio (DD TrueHD and DTS-HD), set those to PCM. As for DD and DTS set those to bitstream. Once you upgrade though, set everything to bitstream and you will be in audio heaven.

Thanks guys. I may upgrade to the 605 or better model by the end of the year or early next year, I bought the 604 early last year so upgrading it this soon won't be possible.

If using analogs, you will need an spl meter. You can change the balance from within the player. Also, you will have to calculate the delay times using the distances of your speakers. It gets complicated, but there is a walk through in the manual. I prefer HDMI because you can bypass that whole mess.

One HUGE advantage of upgrading to a 705 or up is the inclusion of Audyssey room correction.

I'm a "don't mess with my signal path" and "love the sound of tube gear" type, but I have to say this messed with my perceptions of good sound something fierce. You won't believe a) how easy it is to setup and b) just how much clarity it adds to the audio, not just in the bass but through the midrange.
