i'm format neutral, no problems with PS3, it already spoiled me since it loads really fast.

I have a Panny first gen BD player and a 80g PS3, by far the PS3 is the better BD player, actually I've been using it as my main BD player. I'm thinking of selling my Panny.

I love the PS3.

Just purchased a ps3 last night and my initial impressions on the blu ray side are very good. I also have a pre-hdmi 360 with an add-on. Obviously the 1080i limitation on my older xbox is a minus compared to the 1080/24 of the blu ray, and the fact that the ps3 is quieter than the 360 and doesnít have an external power brick is a big plus. Bottom line is blu ray movies look great.

The negatives of the ps3 vs. the 360 in terms of movies, IMHO, are in java vs hdi. The hd dvd movies I have seem to have a slicker GUI, but to be fair I've really only tested Spiderman 3 on the PS3; it has a crap GUI, a cruddy looking download graphic at start, and takes longer than any hd dvd disk to load.

There are differences that are less about movies than about the consoles themselves. Personally I think the 360 is nicer looking, although the add-on was clunky. I prefer the GUI of the 360 blade system over the ps3's crossbar GUI. And, xbox live blows away the ps3 online offering. Other considerations are the controllers, but that is probably just something I need to get used to. The lack of remote/infrared on the ps3 sucks. It means I need some sort of solution to get my harmony remote to work. Havenít looked into that yet, but Iím assuming there is some sort of infrared/USB adaptor. Anyone with a good solution for this let me know.

Have to agree on the PS3, to me it is a no brainer with recent news and if you dig high quality high def content and you are a gamer.

Nice collection of dvd's you got there.
You got some work ahead of you.

I think the PS3 is the VERY OBVIOUS Choice. Heck, it is the only player available now that will negotiate the 2.0 spec and cost the same or less than SA players. Not to mention, you can play games, surf the net, stream your music (videos, photos) and supposedly might be able to use for netflix rental service. It isn't the most beautiful piece of gear, but it is highly useful.

I am NOT a fanboy and have owned an HD-A2 (which I really liked) - but really, the PS3 is a bargain for all it does.
