Default Blu-ray PlayStation 3 Remote?

I was thinking about getting one because although I find the PS3 controller a perfectly good remote, my parents, who I am trying to introduce to the wonders of Blu-ray, cannot comprehend using it at all. Then, I saw this remote from Sony for the PlayStation 3:

EDIT: Looks like it won't let me post URLs. But I'm sure you know what I'm talking about?

I was wondering if anyone else here has gotten this remote. If so, is it good? How does it compare with the PS3 controller, or other Blu-ray remotes?

I love it, though I've since purchased a standalone unit and don't use it much. The coolest thing about it is that it's bluetooth and doesn't require line of sight for operation. You can hold it to your face in the dark and push a button and get a response!

its a fairly standard remote. i was using the controller ever since i bought the ps3 but then the wifey wanted to be able to watch movies also, so i got the remote free thru the rebate program. it works great for what it is....a remote.

It's better than the controller that's for sure. The controllers die too quickly!

It is definitely better than the SIXAXIS for movies, and is perfect for people who aren't comfortable using a game remote.

My only pet peeve is that pressing any button turns on the PS3, which happens enough by accident to get annoying.

I would recommend it to everyone who owns a PS3 in a heartbeat though, or really any alternative remote other than the SIXAXIS.

I ordered the BluWave remote so that I could have the IR dongle. I use a Harmony remote, so it was essential, and only $13 on Amazon.
