Samsung Updates BD-P1200 Firmware

Posted February 5, 2008 by Josh

Samsung BD-P1200 Samsung has released a firmware upgrade for their BD-P1200 Blu-ray disc player. The firmware has been updated to version 2.1, and can be updated either by using the player's built in Ethernet port or downloading a CD image from the Samsung website. The firmware addresses many compatibility issues the player has had with recent, high-profile titles.

Titles which previous had issues with playback but should now operate correctly are:

* Live Free or Die Hard
* Mr. and Mrs. Smith
* Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
* Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1
* Sunshine

Too bad 3:10 to Yuma still doesn't work. I guess it hasn't reached the 2 month minimum yet so that Samsung can address the problem.

I tried downloading the latest firmware today and noted that it is for Windows operating systems instead of WIN and MAC as before. I have a MAC. I burned a disc and loaded it in the player. It didn't work. I presume the operating system limitation is the culprit. Any suggestions (aside from choking out more money for a different brand Blu-Ray player)?

This is just going to go on and on. VERY FRUSTRATING! Samsung is always going to have to play catch up I fear. Guess I am just going to have to accept the fact that a new bd movie I buy in the future is not going to work on my Sammy til the firmware is released.

Thanks for the list of compatible movies, dominica. Preciate it. I wonder if War and Resident Evil 3 play?? I could probably make a guess.

As far as I could tell those two played before didn't they? I knew Resident Evil 3 played before. I watched it the day it came out.
