Default Considering getting a PS3, any advise?

I bought a Panasonic BMPBD10A player this summer. It was the best deal at the time, it came with 5 free Blu-rays in box, plus the additional 5 free movies with the mail-in rebate.

Now that this player's been "out-dated" by the BD30 player, I'm considering eBaying my Panny, and getting a PS3.

My TV is an LCD 1080p Toshiba 42in Regza, fyi. Any advise?

Have your ebay listing end on Sunday nite around 7:30 eastern time for best results.

I'd rather wait until the BD-50 comes out if that's the case if you want a good panny BD player. But the PS3 is an excellent blu-ray player. Load times excellent. Play is great. Firmware easily upgradeable by wifi. A problem people have been having is they couldn't connect their PS3 to their receiver or something. I mean that's what I've been reading in places so I dont know. It's an excellent player though. Too good actually. If only players were as good as this, we'd have no problems at all I tell ya. What I wonder is that why couldn't sony stand-alone players be like this. This is an excellent player. heh Did I forget to mention that?

Sounds like PS3 is the way to go. I'm not really attached to the Panasonic brand, I was going to by the PS3 intially until a Best Buy salesman talked me into the Panny. 5 free movies in-box, plus 5 free more through rebate was what sold me. Thanks for the ebay advise, I'll be sure to time it accordingly.

Any other comments from PS3 fans?

Get it, awesome BR player. I have had the PS3, BD30 and 301 and the PS3 is the best all around player IMO. Stay clear of the Panny players if you are using HDMI for audio as the 10, 30 and most likely the 50 all have the PCM LFE bug where the LFE over HDMI for any PCM source is -5db.

lol just kidding, the ps3 is a great bluray player hands down. and could possibly be the only 2nd gen player to be able to support profile 2.0

I've had a PS3 since near launch, and I just purchased a BD10 on clearance at CC last week. What I like about the bd10 is that it is completely quiet compared to the PS3. The fan noise on the PS3, while not bothersome most of the time, can be really annoying during quiet scenes (though I'm probably more sensitive to the issue than most). The load times are better on the PS3.

I'm going to keep the PS3 as my main player for now (and move the bd10 to the bedroom), but I think I might eventually replace the PS3 with the bd-50 (or something similar) as my primary player just because of the noise factor (DTS-HD MA support is potentially another minor issue against the PS3).

Strictly as a bd player (if the noise doesn't bother you - the 40gb is supposedly more quiet), the PS3 is an excellent choice and will be supported the best of all bd players over time.

If you get a PS3, make sure you pick up Call of Duty 4 and Resistance

COD4 is my inspiration for wanting to get PS3 in the first place It looks absolutely amazing.

Hearing the fan on the PS3 would probably bug me, but I'm probably getting the 40gb as it is, so hopefully it's not too bad. If it's as loud or louder than the Xbox 360 I might have to reconsider
