I wish Sony would add Ps2 via emulation on the 40gb. Theres nothing stopping them its just software

If we took a poll, I'd wonder how many people actually use their PS3s to play PS2 games. I know I haven't since July.

Why would they do that i wonder? Anyone think it may have something to do with the $299 PS3 rumor?

That would be crazy if they got rid of the 80 gb as the 60 gb has also been discontinued. I never was a fan of the ps2, but am a huge fan of the ps3. Now I can buy ps2 games and play them (God of War! Wooohooo!). I wonder if they have another backward compatible model in production? I mean, we can clearly see that people like that option.

I could possibly see them coming out with a bigger HD version and then start releasing catalogue games on the PSN (including ps2 games), but I still prefer the capability of putting the ps2 disc in and playing it.

It might but this was announced a while back. The reasoning behind it is they belive it has past the time period were a vast number of consumers will play ps2 titles on thier ps3. It was essentially a feature for early adopters.(there was something about this on ign back in november but i can't find it )

The 80GB will also play SACD. It looks like this feature will be dropped on the newer models. I bought a 40GB before I knew this and wish I had bought the 80GB. Maybe I'll buy a second one before they are all gone

This is true and it's rumored that they are coming up with something better for cheaper.

That was my thought also. The dates even line up pretty closely IIRC.
