Default PS3 40 gig or 80 gig?

I'll be purchasing a PS3 at the end of the month.

What's the difference between the 40 and 80 gig models? That's just for gaming purposes right?

I mean, the only two games I'm interested in are Metal Gear and Resident Evil. I mainly want it for Blu Ray playback.

The 40 & 80 don't factor into blu ray playback, right?

I ask, because if there isn't a difference I'll be getting a PS3 40 gig instead of the 80. That way I have an extra 100$ for the dvd remote and an HDMI cable, and an extra movie or two.

I'm cuttin' corners here!

From a movie player only perspective there should be no difference. From a gaming stand point I think the key features of the 80 are built in wireless, SACD playback, and limited PS2 playback. The 40 has none of those features.

the 40GB one DOES HAVE WIRELESS NETWORKING! It's a standard PS3 spec that will never be removed.

The 20G did not. All other models do. Other differences are only 2 USB ports, no backwards compatibility with PS2 games and no SACD. If you don't care about any of those, then save the funds and get the 40G.

The issue was with the 40GB and a false claim of no wifi, plus the 20GB isn't manufactured outside of japan anymore.

For those of you that pointed out the 40 does include wifi, thanks for the update. To many sku's to remember what each version contains.

PS3 40 gig :
HDD of 40gig
No Playstation 2 Games Playback
No Memory Stick/SD/CompactFlash Slots
2 USBs Slots

PS3 80gig :
HDD of 80gig
Playstation 2 Games Playback (Not all of them)
Memory Stick/SD/CompactFlash Slots
4 USBs Slots

http://www.us.playstation.com/ps3/about/specs

If you don't mind not having PS2 Games Playback and 2 extra USB slots/SD/Memory Stick Slots well get the 40gig. Since the HDD is easy to take off since there's a slot on the side made to take it off. So you can put whatever 5400rpm laptop HDD and upgrade over than 80gig.

This is a little guide to do it.
