Default Samsung, FINALLY, releasing latest firmwares for all players!!!

On the website, crave.cnet.com(under recent posts), they are reporting that the following Samsung players will be releasing new firmwares on the dates noted below:

Samsung BD-P1000- Jan 25
Samsung BD-P1200- Feb 2
Samsung BD-P1400- Jan 26
Samsung BD-UP5000- listed as coming soon.

Just thought those who have been waiting patiently for Samsung to get their firmware out should know. Hopefully this will be a good fix.

What will the update do to the 1400. How do you get the update, I don't think I have gotten one but I'm not sure.

Samsung has never been that very specific on what their firmwares actually do. This is noted on the website I listed above. You can call Samsung (1-800-SAMSUNG) or you can download the firmware to your computer, burn it on a cd, and then put the cd in your player. Check Samsungs website to see what is the latest firmware that is out. It will say something like ''Ver. 2.0''. Then, check your settings on your player and it should tell you what the latest firmware you have in your player. Hope I helped.

I thought Ver. 2.0 is the newest firmware update for the 1400? There's gonna be a newer one on Jan. 26th also?

I am going to hold back and wait for the bug reports after everyone load the new firmware.

Would be nice if these companies would tell us what is fixed or added so you can decide if it is even worth the download.

I think that would be wise.

Sorry...I just used 2.0 as an example to illustrate a point. My bad. Did not mean to start any .

I'm still a bit skeptic, but since they actually announced it - I'm a bit pissed, since I broke down and got the Panasonic DMP BD30. I can live with the choice since it is a stellar player IMHO. But I do long for the 1200 in "working" form. I just wonder if it will hold up to new releases once it is patched!
