Default Question Regarding BD Purchase

I am looking to purchase a BD Player to upgrade from my Sony BDP-S300. I just purchased an Onkyo 605 so the player must support DTS-MA (otherwise the receiver upgrade was essentially meaningless)

The two players I was looking at are:
Samsung 1400
Panasonic BD-30

Are there any others in this price range and if not which would you reccommend? I looked at the PS3 but without the HD audio it's meaningless to me.

Also both of the players I listed I believe are profile 1.1 which should make load times faster which is a plus.

The Samsung 1400 is not Profile 1.1.

Would that make the Panasonic BD-30K the better purchase?

If you want a profile 1.1 player, the only way to go is the Panny 30. It supports DTS-MA. If you want to wait a couple months, you can take your pick from the various 1.1 players coming during the Spring/Summer.

I'm actually looking to upgrade the end of January. That said the BD-30K looks the way to go unless somethin else pops up by then.

Yeah if you want a player by then, the Panasonic is the ONLY way to go. It will bitstream all the audio codecs for you to your nice new receiver. I have heard it is the best performing SAL player right now when it comes to load times.

One last question... will the PS3 ever bitstream DTS-MA (if so that'd be my solution)... I tried reading a bunch of forums but most lead to questions about decoding DTS-MA and not bitstreaming it.

I've seen it posted on the Blu-ray.com "Insiders" Forum that the chipset used in the PS3 cannot support bitstream HD audio. I got a BD-30 in November to compliment my Toshiba A35 for bitstream audio to my Onkyo 605 receiver, and have been very pleased with it.
