That would be so nice. The only thing I heard is a gizmo from NIKO I think. That will plug in your USB port and then have infrared. But supposedly it won't turn off or on the machine. I think one of the most important things.

Even the new Harmony remote that is coming out doesn't work with it. Sony always wants everything to be exclusive to them (ie: the only hardware that uses blue tooth). Why didn't they just use UHF or Wi-Fi? They work really great, and uses a lot less battery power.

Universal remotes require IR, PS3 is Bluetooth. You'd need to buy an adapter. Unfortunately, I've read nothing but bad things about these adapters. Some have problems where the directional arrows don't work right, others say you can't turn it on/off, and others still you can't get to the top menu. Sucks... Good job Sony!

WiFi for a remote control, that's the 1st time I hear this.

The only reason they use bluetooth is because the controllers are using bluetooth to communicate with the PS3.

That's true... But how hard or expensive is it to add infra red. Microsoft did it. Sony was too caught up in their blu-ray player (PS3) to notice what people really wanted. Maybe now that blu-ray supossedly won, they will make an adapter that works.

Might find a hack for a cell phone to act as a remote?

Or wait for this Sony Ericsson to be released:
