Default Total PS3 Confusion

I didn't know which section of the forum to put this in, but anyways on my PS3 Video Output settings it says thats its only ony 480i isnt that only like DVD quality? I dont get it I have a HDMI cable, and ok here's the stupid thing.. I don't know what kind of HDTV I have, like 1080p and all that stuff haha. So could it be that my TV's only 480i? if it is that is so shitty.

Tell us the brand and model of the TV. How is the PS3 connected to the TV, be specific, is there anything between the two. I don't have a PS3, but perhaps can at least tell you something about your TV to get this started. Oh, and "beesknees"? huh?

If the tv's got a hdmi input then it should be atleast 720p ... right ? <shrug>

Have you got the PS3 set to output on hdmi? Not composite or anything?
