Default A question on the 1.1 standard

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD10AK and am wondering if it can be made 1.1 compliant thru a firmware upgrade. The info I have so far is no...but wondering if somone knows for sure.

thanks

Solstice X thinks that the chip used has a secondary video decoder built into it:

but I know nothing about that. If it has that decoder, then it might be able to be made 1.1 compliant. If not, then no, there's no chance. I'd lean toward no chance, since the player has technically been out since the early part of the year (the original BD10 is the same hardware).

1.1 profile is more than just a second decoder for PiP. Minimum local storage capacity is defined at 256MB. Profile 1.0 did not have a minimum and if memory serves many of the players had only 64MB. Trying to find some documentation as to how much memory the Panasonic had built in.

Edit: Profile 1.0 minimum storage capacity is 64KB

Isn't there a 2.0 spec as well? What does that require, is it a hardware of firmware upgrade? Is there a date for this spec to be finalized and mandatory like the 1.1 had? Also, any word on possible combo players that would support 2.0 or is it necessary?

2.0 requires a network card and 1GB of storage so dont expect firmware upgrade for any existing player other than the PS3.

Is the 2.0 spec finalized, honestly dont know.

As for players that are 2.0 compliant, only the Daewoo player was announced as 2.0 compliant. This player was shown off at one of the CE shows, cant remember which one, but to date I dont think it is available for consumer purchase.
