Default Sony or Samsung?

I'm in the market for the a BD player. My budget fits these 2 models,
Sony BD-PS300 and Smasung BD-P1400. Which of the 2 do you guys think is the better buy.

thanks a lot in advance!

I bought the 1400 because my 40" LCD is a Samsung. Did a firmware upgrade out of the box, haven't had any trouble with it. Sometimes I think the discs should load faster when starting up...

Clint.

I don't have one yet but plan to get a sony one soon. Reason being since sony is the main ting behind blu-ray (Imean It is there own) Iwould go with them. If I was an hd dvd supporter which I am not I would probabl;y go with toshiba. Do you see what I mean.

neither... samsung bdp5000 ... It's dual format so u can enjoy all movies then u can have an excuse to get another hdtv for ur rca hdv-5000 if that don't intrest you go for the samsung. sony is too hung up on themselves... That is why i bought a samsung tv... can't wait for samsung bd players to go down in cost so i can sell my ps3 to some sucker

I think the Samsung BDP-5000 is outside of the budget here. Also its not even on the market yet.

Between the two players mentioned, I would say the Samsung 1400.

The 1400 plays back all audio codecs - the S300 doesn't. That would close the deal for me. If you want a Sony, the PS3 is still their premiere BRD player.
