Default PS-3 Hookup

Got a question. Sorry ahead of time if this belongs in another thread.

I am buying a 50" plasma an up convert (to 1080i or I might get one that up converts to 1080P) DVD/Home theater system and a PS-3.

Now my question is if I run HDMI from the PS-3 to the DVD player then from the DVD player to the TV do you lose picture quality playing Blu-Ray movies on the PS-3? Since the DVD player up converts. Also how would I know if the DVD players HDMI is 1.3 or are they all standered now? Lastly would I really see a diference anyway on a 50" T.V.? Thanks for any help.

Get a 1080p model.

You will notice a difference.

No you shouldn't lose video quality.

Well, hope this is ok to ask my own PS3 question on your post here
I am planning on purchasing the 40GB PS3. Must I hook it up via hdmi or can I use component cables? I don't care about upconversion for DVDs because I already have that via hdmi with my HD A2. Would I lose any quality on my playing of blu-ray movies if it isn't hooked up hdmi but, just component? Thanks!

Since the PS-3 upconverts DVD's to 1080p, why not spend more money on a better home theater system? The PS3 HDMI is 1.3. So are 2007 Panasonic Plasma's. Some of the newer 2007 after June home theater systems are also HDMI 1.3 compatible. However, I am not aware of any movies that make use of this yet.

Eventually, sure but right now the reason why not is money. I do feel like spending the $400 on the PS3 so that I can view blu-ray movies, though.

MY TVs output is 720p/1080i so, component would be enough to have full blu-ray resolution capability on my current HD TV, correct? Please help. Thanks!
