Default Question for people with ps3 as their main Blu player

I am really looking to upgrade my sound and audio quality of my Hd set up. I am using my Ps3 (until Blu comes down a bit) as my main player. Does anyone around here have some suggestions about how I should have this hooked up to get the most out of it?

Any suggestions for receivers, audio, etc would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance guys!

Oh I guess I should say, my Tv is a Sony Xbr3.

It looks like the best option would be to get a Sony 7.1 reciever with support for the newer surround formats. I can only find models that are (for Sure) available in Europe... but you get the idea:
Sony STR-DA5300ES or the Sony STR-DA3300.
I don't know what speakers would match these best. Ask G-Locks Out. He's quite knowladgable in that area

Use HDMI and get a receiver that can handle multichannel pcm.
It isn't known if the PS3 can pass the new codecs undecoded over HDMI. As long as the PS3 can decode them internally and pass the as mutichannel pcm, a receiver that can handle that is all you need..

I'm sure the Onkyo is a great reciever, I'm just guessing that a Sony reciever will match the rest of his setup slightly better.
1.He has the playstation, he is planning on switching that out once he finds an appropriate player/price.

2.He has a Sony tv.

3.He appears to want advice on everything from getting the most out of the PS3 he already has, as well as audio in general...finally, I think he wants advice on connections as well.

Truth is we don't know what the PS3 "will" do. Now, it does multichannel PCM. So yes, a reciever must support this...but he'll either have to put out for Dts Hd MA decoding in his player or reciever...so he needs advice on both players & recievers...
Anywho.

Exactly what I was gonna say. The onkyo 605 is a good cheap one and I have the JVC RXD412b. I got mine back in Jan and decided on the JVC because it was cheap ($325) and small (very thin and fit nicely on me shelf).

I just recently got the Onkyo 605 ( much to the displeasure of my upstairs neighbor ) as well and I immediately noticed the difference from my nearly 5 year old Sony receiver, I love it so far. We just have a 5.1 setup, we will probably wait until we move to take advantage of the full 7.1 capability.

I found that the bass was very weak on the Onkyo 605 and took it back to CC.
