Default Anyone here using a new Samsung BD-P1400?

I think this going to be my 1st BD player but I can't find a review here or anywhere on the web as of 10/2... anyone have one or know someone who has bought it?

Reviews, at least from magazine types usually come a few months after the product is released. Good luck.

I own the Bdp1400 and it is very good. it is one of only two players out right now that are capable of streaming Hd audio (TRUEHD, DTS-HD & DTS-HD MA)

That's cool... I was wondering what it actually decodes internally. The Samsung website lists TrueHD and DTS-HD as decoded. Since then I know the firmware came out that allows it to bitstream all of those and DTS-MA. I will be running the analog outs so I'm hoping it decodes the HD audio (except for DTS-MA of course) itself to send as analog to my receiver.

I'm so hoping the BD-P5000 bitstreams all audio from both formats to my 605. If it does I'm so gonna in the whole a grand

I have been putting my 1400 through some pretty good test using Bitstream of DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD.

FF:ROTSS has got to be a new favorite for DTS-HD. If you want to show off your new system, skip to the scene in the forest when the Army sends about 10 missiles toward the SS. The sounds as he is flying around and the explosions are simply amazing. Every channel is seemless as the sound wraps around your head.

Dolby TrueHD when viewing 300 can't be beat. The simpliest scenes just make you enjoy the movie for things that you really wouldn't even notice before. There is one scene where the army is marching through the mountains and the camera view is low and you can literally hear footsteps of soldiers as their soles grind in to the dirt and hear them walk literally across the whole home theater without a dead spot.

I am happy so far and I haven't really even tweaked my system yet. Default out of the box install.

I'm planning to purchase this player. However, is it BD Profile 1.1 or 1.0? I'm interested in this player because of the firmware update that unlocks DTS HD-MA, but if it becomes obsolete after November, I'll save my shillings for something else.

I was looking at buying this unit, too, but it appears that it is BD 1.0. According to another reference I read, Samsung will not offer a BD 1.1 player until 2008.

By the terms of the October 31st mandate, units produced after that date must be 1.1. By producing it before the deadline, Samsung (& others) can get away with selling the 1.0 units.
