Default question about first gen samsung players?

I was thinking of getting one of the First gen samsung bluray players but wanted to get some opinions from people who owned them first. Right now I just own the 360 Hddvd addon but im looking to get into bluray too and I saw these players on ebay for around $300-350. I have a 720p samsung dlp and a 5.1 system so dolby true hd support really isnt a big deal to me I just want a basic player to watch bluray movies, any help is appreciated please voice your opinions.

My .02, for close to the same money, I would have to recommend the PS3. I think you would be happier in the long run.

I never owned this player but I saw it everyday when I worked at BB. Trust me, even for that price i wouldn't say its worth the money. They had quite a few glitches with them. And yes, I would agree that PS3 would probably be the better choice.

Ive been using a 1st gen samsung since christmas and after the firmware updates its a very good unit. The only real limitation being BD-Java support(I personally have 0 interest in this whatsoever) and no advanced audio format support(UPCM only). The DCDi chip on it also does a decent job of upconverting if you do not have a higher end DVD player.

ok heres an update guys I decided to not get the samsung player and waited for a little while, and I found one of my friends was selling his 20 gig ps3. He gave me a deal and sold it to me for $200. Im waiting for my copy of casino royale in the mail but I have been playing resistance. So far im impressed with the quality of the system it seems well built and runs quiet. I Cant wait to be able to get all the movies Blu-ray fans have been raving about.

Welcome to the Blu Club !
I guess I was a bit late but I was going to advise you to buy the PS 3 60 at the Sony.com site. $499 - 150. for getting the Sony credit card = $349.00 plus 5 free movies plus free shipping .
But the 20 gig will be fine for Blu Ray movies. Enjoy !!!
