Default 0 or 7.5 for black levels?

after all these years, i have yet to figure this out.

i have 3 blu ray players and 3 hdtvs. only one hdtv, the rear projection one, gives me the color temp, so i have that one set at low which is 6500k. that's it. nothing else seems to give me a clear explanation. all i see is enhanced black levels, high and low black level, and cool normal and warm.

that's bad enough, but i still have no idea if my bd players should be set at 0 or 7.5.

can anyone shed a little light on this in laymans terms?
