Default 80gb Ps3

Does anyone know if this will have the proper HDMI 1.3 chipsets to allow bitstreaming of DD+, TrueHD, DTS-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio? Or will this be a 60GB model with a 80GB hard drive in it.

My question is will Sony lower the price of the BDP-S300 now? If you can get a Playstation 3 for the same price, why would anyone buy the BDP-S300?

Theres has been some rumors about the PS3 having a new controller with the rumble, but I still have not seen anything about the VastLane SiI 9134 chip inside to support the bitstream lossless audio. At this time, that is the only thing that will make me go to the 80 gig. The hard drive in the 60 can easily be replaced with a larger one for a cheaper price.

This should be the same unit that Korea is currently getting and I dont remember reading anything special about this unit other than the additional 20GB of storage.

Also with as much money as Sony is losing currently on the PS3, I doubt they would add an additional chip to perform the bitstream function.

The hard drive is very easy to replace, my 20G has 160G drive - very simple once the screws came off - you can even back it and restore on USB hard drive. very nice process. I believe its still recommend to use 5400rpm SATA notebook drives.

the 80GB is the same unit as the 60GB. Only difference besides the Hard Drive diff. is that it also dosent have the Motion Engine in it and it plays PS2/PS1 with emulation

I must have missed something. Why would there have to be a different chipset to allow bitstream audio? Wouldn't that be a firmware/software issue?

The current chipset in the PS3 only contains the SiI 9133 chip. That chip only supports the Deep Color of HDMI 1.3. In order to get the bitstream sent out you need the SiI 9134 chip. I thought maybe they could correct it with a firmware. But hardware is just as important as hardware so it is very possible, since they have different hardware for the bitstream output, that no firmware will correct this on existing PS3 hardware.
