Default Sony BDP-S300 Experience

I have a PS3 as my Blu Ray player, but I want to buy a stand alone player. Does anybody has any experience with the new Sony yet. Let me know.

HdBluRayFan,

I've had my Sony BDP-S300 for a little over a week now, and let me tell you it was well worth its $499 price. I have been using it pretty much every night and it has been totally glitch free. Blu-ray movies look amazing! and upscaled standard DVD's look near HD. The player is slim, whisper quiet, and load times are quick (by high def player standards). It takes 20 seconds to load a Blu-ray movie (I've played 10 so far), and boot up time from a powered off state takes 40 seconds.

So far I am very happy with my S300

Did you have any problems loading Pirates 1 & 2 Blu-ray discs? I ordered this player this week and read some reviews that said those two discs took a few minutes to load.

If this drops a couple of hundred dollars, I may get it.

I was going to sell my PS3 for this unit and when I saw them head to head, I thought the ps3 was a better for watching blu-rays.

I'm not made of money, so I'll have to wait.

I got my S300 three days ago and I love it. It does take some seconds to load, but not minutes. Its a great player for the price of 499. When I played both movies they worked perfect.

Don't own Pirates 1 or 2 on Blu-ray, but from what BlkM383 said, it plays fine. I think you're going to be just fine Look forward to your impressions of the S300 when you get it.

Now do any of you S300 owners own one of the new Onkyo HDMI 1.3 receivers. Im curious to know if this unit allows you to send the bitstream of the lossless TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. So far no documentation, and from what I could tell of the manual, confrims or doesnt confirm the right chipset exisiting in this player.
