Default Akira Sealed First Pressing FS

Selling first press release of Akira for $60 shipped. It is brand new and sealed. I will only do paypal and ship to US only. Just thought I'd offer it up over here before I throw it on ebay. Thanks!

*Price is not set in stone, feel free to make an offer in the form of a pm. Thanks.

Just as a FYI: I think you can only bump once a day, unless I'm wrong.....

Can I ask what makes this particular Blu Ray so special? I've seen several users on this board selling this over the past few months for close to what your asking and have never really known what the hoopla was about. I've read and understand that this film comes with some sort of collectible book and such, but why is the film itself so valued? I've heard the name before, but never really paid much attention to it... I feel like I'm possibly missing out on something, care to fill me in?

The version he's selling had a small print run compared to the copies you would now find at Best Buy/Amazon/etc.

To answer your "why is the film so valued?" question, Akira was one of the first anime films to get a theatrical run in the US, at one of the most realistic (at the time) anime films ever produced. Even after the restoration of it back in 2001, it is still a visual spectical in all honesty, though I personally prefer the original Streamline Pictures dub (thank god I have that LD still). To a lot of anime fans, Akira was one of the first things they saw that was anime (I was lucky to see it in a small art house back during it's very small theatrical run back in 1990).
