Thanks for the encouragement.....I bought it on E Bay so no UPC code, but I didn't really care for the movies they had to choose from anyway. I tend to be pretty selective (plus I have seen most of them many times already).

I am VERY happy with the purchase

Now....when I can get blu ray for less than $200, I'm in on that as well

Congrats! Enjoy the ride, I have!

Suggestions: "Galapagos", "Planet Earth", "The Last Samurai" for picture quality. For great sound: "Transformers", "Superman Returns", "Batman Begins". For all around "red is good", T2 import from France (isn't region free-ness great).

I second your sentiments about BD and add this, when I can get a player that is not already obsolete for under $300, I will go purple.

Very good! Welcome to the Red Team! You'll love it. I've been Red over a year and have not had a moment of regret.

I'm considering buying Planet Earth for $38 on e-bay.

Any thoughts?

That's a great price if it the HD-DVD version...might want to make sure of that. If it is though, grab it! You won't regret getting Planet Earth in HD.
