Default own both formats, if so which one do u prefer

I have owned both formats but like hd dvd beter and have gone strickly to hd dvd and have gotten rid of blue ray. I am just wondering what others that have owned both think about it and which one they think is a better product and why. so people that own or have owned both formats leave your thoughts about which one you think is better and why.

I have both and have been equally impressed and happy with both.

I favor Blu-ray simply because they have more movies coming out that I like but that is more of a taste issue rather than a technology issue.

I have the toshiba hd a2 hd dvd player and before that I had the xbox 360 add on then before that I had the ps3. The reason I have the a2 instead of the a20 is my projector is only 1080i capable.. it is a optoma hd72.

The reason that I prefer hd dvd over blue ray is the simple fact that they have given me what they have promised from the start. and the fact that you can buy hd dvd players for half the price of the blueray is a plus.

I own both formats and at the start of it all I thought it would be watchign more bluray but i've been watching HD mostly and it has all been Universal titles. I don't think it one is better than the other quality wise, but movie wish its been HD.

I really don't prefer one to the other, although I do pick the HD DVD, if it's released identically on both formats, mostly because I prefer the color red... And there is more titles o HD DVD that suits my taste.

On the other hand, many HD DVD's give me trouble. Not much, but maybe a stuttering here and there (I never had to return any). So I do feel that Blu-ray is more stable, although it may just be that my Panasonic player is much more stable than my XA1.

Right now, I don't really care who "wins". As long as I get movies in one of the formats, that's good enough for me.

I own both HD and BR, and I'd say quality wise they are about the same. I would like to see HD win, since I'm not a particular fan of region codes.

I had a PS3 and 360 Add On, and slightly favored the Blu Ray......I just bought the Toshiba A-30 today though, so I'll come back here in a few days or so and post my thoughts and which format I now favor. The 360 Add On was very low on volume, which dragged it down a bit for me.

I have a PS3 and an HD-A3 and love both, but for different reasons.

To me the Toshiba (HD-DVD) has a better picture but less actual movies, The PS3 (Blue -Ray) because of all the Disney movies and others has more movies for me and the family.

But like I said, I love both , either format blows away standard DVD's.

Its too bad both camps never got together, although we would not have $99.00 players so quick with no competition.

I'm now dual format. The price of the A3 plus 10 free movies seemed like a good deal. And I needed a player for watching DVD's in my bedroom. I favor Blu because I prefer their content of films way more so far. Eventually I'll pick up the Samsung dual player when it arrives. SO, from this point on, I'll look down on rabid fanboys on both sides with disdain and contempt

Could not have agreed more with you. I prefer hd dvd pq, but I like blu because of the studio support. Both are great formats. To not see flicks like Transformers or Spiderman 3 in hi def is just too much to bare. I am a spoiled hd brat. Mission accomplished Toshiba and Sony.

I just got a PS3 (for free--don't ask, and no I didn't steal it), so now I'm officially purple. I'm happy to be able to get some things in HD that won't--for studio support--be making it to HD DVD, but I'm still supporting HD DVD, for several reasons:

1) There are simply more films availabe on HD DVD that I'm interested in (and with Universal's Hitchcock ownings, more interesting stuff to come).

2) HD DVD is region free

3) HD DVD players are cheaper.

4) I understand that Blu-ray is very complicated to program, and could cause some companies troubles. Since enough cheaply made SD DVDs are out there, why support a format that will likely lead to even more flaws?

5) HD DVDs seem to be marginally cheaper (correct me on this if I'm wrong)

So when it comes to buying Warner discs, I'll always be getting the HD DVD, even when the BR are available (unless, for some reason, there's a sale on warner BR).

Utimately it doesn't matter to me who wins the battle, so long as eventualy everything will be made available in HD.
