Simple
I had just bought a 50" HD TV and saw i could get a 360 hd dvd player + remote + king kong for $160 at circuit city.
Couldn't pass the deal up. At that point i hadn't even looked at what movies were exclusive to one side of the other. But i wound up finding way more exclusives on HD DVD i wanted.
