Well I started my endeavor into HD just wanting to pick up a small 32" LCD for my room. After saving up, I wound up picking up a 37" LCD that I wanted to use as a computer monitor as well.
I then picked up a 360 since I wanted to play a few sports games and also got the HD DVD add on since it was only an extra 150 to get that option. I always kept thinking I was going to go neutral but the movies for blu ray are just not that great. I was amazed with the quality and eventually decided to update my tv to a 1080p set so I sold my 360 add on and picked up an HD A20 for only 250. The standards are finalized and toshiba is really helping the consumer with all the firmware updates and giving customers everything they can out of their players. If you compare the two technologies HD DVD is much better than Blu-ray. If people purchased sets based off which is a better product HD DVD would be far ahead in this war.

i started out the same way as you
and i have a 1080p lcd on the way as well as the A20 (my first stand alone) couldnt be happier, blu ray doesnt have the software that i am willing to pay that kind of money for see my sig, i have alot of exclusives.. and i dont intentionally buy them because of that.. just my taste in movies lies in HD DVD's favor i guess!

I got my HD sat receiver in Jan 2006. I got my Panny plasma in May 2006. At that point I'd heard of both formats, but I decided for the money the HD movie channel would be a better investment.
Then in Sept 2006 I got my 360... when I saw the HD DVD addon was coming for a mear $200 CDN in November, I was all over it like a fat kid on a cheeseburger. ![]()

I heard about hd dvd for a long time. I was hooked on the technology. With Blu ray, it felt like beta all over, Sony wants to control the market, and while i respect them in making a good videogame system, i do not like their approach on other formats. I have a ps3 and i have two br titles the horrible talladega nights and the awesome casino royale.
When i bought the 360,m i knew they were coming out with an add on , and for 200 it introduced me to hd dvd, from there i bought a hd a2 and in the next few months i am buying the 42inch 1080p westinghouse. |

HI , The same came to me . i had a old ps2 and a brand new NEC 37 LCD tv and it was horrible playing games , i went to several stores ( the ps3 came out about the same time ) and one specific store had bought systems plug-in and i fond out that the blue ray movie was really bad ( the 5 element , today i know why ) but anyway there was also a 360 with ad-on and king Kong playing and i said to the sales person ...I want that ..came home lighter on my account but happier with the choice . I bought till now 14 HD DVD and i love them all . Maybe in the future i will buy a BR but for now noup , not a matter of price only BR didn't convince me till now .
